The future of intensive care: the study of the microcirculation will help to guide our therapies.

The conclusion emphasizes the necessity of individualizing hemodynamic management by considering both macrovascular and microvascular parameters. Currently, clinicians lack tools to assess microcirculation, limiting their ability to tailor resuscitation efforts effectively. Focusing solely on systemic hemodynamics without understanding microcirculation can lead to persistent tissue perfusion issues or excessive interventions. The future challenge lies in developing noninvasive equipment for bedside microcirculation assessment. Automated analysis and potential integration of artificial intelligence could enhance accuracy and reduce observer bias. Demonstrating the benefits of incorporating microcirculation analysis into hemodynamic resuscitation strategies is essential to garner support from caregivers and improve patient outcomes.
